lceCube is the worlds largest and most sensitive neutrino telescope, located at South Pole Station in Antarctica. DESY hosts one of the largest lceCube groups worldwide. It is a key contributor for the lceCube Upgrade, an extension of the lceCube detector with new optical sensors and calibration devices, with deployment scheduled in late 2025. The lceCube group contributes strongly to construction, operation and science analysis. It is part of DESYs astroparticle division focused on multi-messenger astronomy with a network of groups that connect neutrino astronomy to optical/UV and gamma-ray astronomy, as well as theoretical modelling of high-energy phenomena.

About your role:

  • Research in neutrino astronomy

About you:

  • Ph.D. in physics or astronomy
  • Strong background in neutrino astronomy
  • Previous experience on data analysis with high-energy neutrino detectors
  • Experience with the testing or commissioning of optical sensors for neutrino detectors
  • Proficiency in the English language, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in teams
